There is a period of time in a spiritual awakening where many emotions and negative thought patterns come to the surface. To many, it feels like being bombarded with constant negative thoughts, fears, and anxieties. Techniques to maintain a positive, calm emotional state simply no longer work.
One of my clients described this heavy feeling in this way: “It feels like someone poured concrete into my head. The negative emotions are so dense and heavy and nothing I do seems to move them.”
During the release phase of a spiritual awakening, our deepest subconscious beliefs rise to the surface. They come up to unwind and to release their momentum. Some of the beliefs and negative patterns will resolve on their own. But you have to experience them cycling through your mind while they resolve. It can be uncomfortable.
So what do you do when you can no longer shift your mood? When you are constantly bombarded by low frequency thoughts?
You surrender. You accept the low frequency thoughts.
Don’t engage, resist, fight or try to change the energies. Let them be there in the background. Do your best to move forward with your life. Wash the dishes, go to work, walk the dog. And you understand that a lot of your energy is tied up in processing. You set reasonable expectations, like I probably won’t be in the best mood while I am at work or cleaning up the house. You may need more rest and you will very likely need more down time.

There is one exercise I highly recommend for releasing the low frequency energies, especially when they feel dense.
This exercise should be done for 30 minutes to one hour daily. You need a journal and a pen. Set a timer and write out your resentments, one by one. Start the sentences with feeling based statements.
I am angry that….
I am sad that…
I am ashamed that….
Cycle through your emotions and let them out using pen and paper.
Now, you may be thinking – this is an old exercise, I’ve heard of this before or maybe even tried it. And you are right. But there is one more element that made all of the difference to me.
When I went through the release phase of my spiritual awakening, I felt the weight of my heavy unresolved emotions. Literally, they felt like a weight in my head. They seemed locked away, dragging me down but not wanting to open up and release. I tried the writing exercise and found it to be a miserable failure.
Until I added the right frequencies. There are two pieces of music that are known to aid in the release and letting go of old emotions.
The first three minutes of Beethoven’s 7th Symphony, second movement.
Barber, Adagio for Strings
While playing this music and writing the dense negative emotions that felt like a block of ice melted and released. I wrote every resentment I had, towards other people, institutions and of course myself.
After every daily music and writing session I felt like some of the ice had melted and released.
So, that’s the letting go exercise that I recommend during the releasing stage of spiritual awakening. Dedicate 30 -60 minutes daily to releasing old energies. And then move on with your day, letting the old thought patterns cycle on in the background. Do not be discouraged if you can’t move the old feelings or patterns. You can surrender and trust that they will pass.
