One of the more uncomfortable symptoms I experienced during my awakening was seeing shadows out of the corner of my eye. Sometimes they were very visible and seemed to dart just out of my view. Other times they were more vague. For a couple of months my sight seemed to be aware of them and their presence terrified me at times. I am grateful to have encountered others who could see these strange apparitions, who assured me that this is temporary stage.
When the inner sight opens things previously unseen can become more visible. During periods of intense personal growth we are usually tasked with facing our shadow. And as we deal with our internal shadows its not unusual to see the shadowy thought form fragments in our reality. It’s like suddenly, we have access to their dimension.
During my awakening guidance calls I have heard more and more clients mention these shadows – usually with some trepidation. For most, this is a temporary phase. Like all things awakening, the key is to not succumb to fear.
Below is an exercise that I give to people who are disturbed by the shadows. It is adapted from the great visionary Colette Aboulker-Muscat, and the book The Encyclopedia of Mental Imagery. I can’t recommend this book highly enough.
Here is the exercise:
See the shadow beings.
See yourself blowing at them, strongly, and telling them to go away.
Experience the shadowy thought forms inside of you. See your stomach secreting acid that dissolves them. Sense them being destroyed in the small intestine, and expel them in the toilet. Flush the toilet three times. Then take a shower.
Notice how you now feel.
The experience of Awakening often includes exposing our shadow selves. Work through them fearlessly.
