Grounded sleep is one of the best self-care practices I know of. I recommend it to anyone who lives in modern society. I find it especially helpful to people who are highly sensitive and/or empathic. I especially recommend it to help the body during a spiritual awakening. It can be really helpful if your awakening is intense. Grounding in general is important during a spiritual awakening for two reasons:
- Grounding releases old negative energies from our body and bioenergetic field into Earth, where they are transmuted
- Grounding makes space for new, higher frequencies and helps them anchor into the energy body
Signs that you could benefit from grounding during your spiritual awakening:
- brain fog
- memory loss
- waking up between 2-4 am
- not sleeping well
- lack of energy and vitality
- constant processing of old mental / emotional patterns, leaving your nervous system in a state of fight or flight
- dense emotions such as anxiety and depression
- feeling stuck in negativity
- body pressure, and a feeling of density or stuck energy in the body
- general feeling of unease
- weight gain
- feeling a need to “fill yourself” with external solutions like food, cigarettes, drugs
- you can’t feel energy in your feet / energy leaving your feet
- you’ve been told during an energy reading that your feet can’t discharge old energy
- water retention, stuck lymph, feeling bloated and looking “puffy”
- unexplained high blood pressure
- feeling extra sensitive and absorbent of other people’s energies
I hit a rut during my spiritual awakening. My sleep was terrible, wave after wave of old emotions came up to be released, and I generally felt terrible. I also had a persistent feeling of stuck energy in my head. My inner guidance led me to grounding over and over again, but the only info I could find on grounding was to spend time barefoot outside.
Then I discovered a way to ground while sleeping. I purchased a flat cotton sheet with silver thread. It connects via a wire to a grounding rod that I placed in the Earth outside my bedroom window. After the first night of grounded sleep, I felt terrible. But after some research I realized I had moved too quickly. My body needed time to adjust to the extra Earth energy.
I resumed grounded sleep, but slowly. For the first couple of weeks I laid on the grounding sheet for one hour, while I relaxed before going to sleep. Then I removed the sheet and went to bed. Within a couple of days I was sleeping soundly. If I had an energetic wakeup at 3 am I was able to promptly fall back asleep. And I woke up feeling refreshed, and calm and energized. After a couple of weeks the puffiness around my eyes vanished. I began to lose some of the ascension weight I had packed on. I was sleeping better than ever.
I experienced what I call a subconscious cleanup during the first few weeks of grounding. I had a lot of processing dreams, sorting through issues and patterns. But they didn’t disturb me or keep me up. I felt like a lot more processing happened at night, while I slept. This gave me a break from the emotional overwhelm I usually felt during the day.
Sleeping grounded is one of the few universal recommendations I make to people who need support during a spiritual awakening. Below is a summary of my recommendation for sleeping grounded:
- Purchase a grounding sheet. I recommend the flat sheet from MitoLife. (note – this is an affiliate link. I receive a small commission if you purchase, which I use to keep content free on my website. I only recommend products which I personally use). I also recommended adding the grounding rod, which costs extra, instead of grounding through your outlets if possible.
- Start slowly. Try 30 minutes to 1 hour a day for 1-2 weeks. It can take time for the body to adjust to the extra energy.
- Make sure you drink plenty of water. You need water to be able to create a current for the Earth energy.
- Take DHA, either from seafood, a vegan source such as flaxseed, or a supplement. DHA is needed to convert electrons into electrical signals in our cells.
What you may experience after sleeping while grounded during an intense spiritual awakening:
- the ability to fall back asleep if you have an energetic wakeup in the middle of the night
- more energy
- a feeling of calm
- an easier time processing, as more will take place at night during sleep
- feeling energy discharge your feet, and learning to discharge at will
- the ability to hold your energy when around other people
- more easily letting go of old thought patterns and negativity
- releasing dense, stuck body energies
- releasing ascension weight
- less cravings for external substances to dampen the intensity of a spiritual awakening. During spiritual awakening, there is a lot of fire energy, which can be uncomfortable. Earth puts out fire. Loading up on Earth energy will dampen the feeling of intensity in a balanced and healthy way.
