Kundalini and sound healing. Are they a good combination? In my last post I wrote about how energy treatments can make kundalini symptoms worse. Kundalini is a great force that has its own way, intelligence and timing. But the intensity can be managed with the right tools and the right approach.
I needed help during my kundalini awakening. The purging of old imprints I went through was very intense. None of the healers I approached seemed to know what to do. I learned a lot about discernment during this time, mostly that what worked for me before my kundalini activated did not necessarily help me know. This was new terrain.
I explored the therapeutic use of sound. I went to a sound bath given by a well-known sound healer. He uses crystal bowls to balance the chakras. The sound bath was pleasant and relaxing. But I left with my usual kundalini overload symptoms – feeling wired, like too much energy was running through me, and a buildup of energy in my head. Still, I felt that sound had potential to balance energy centers and thus reduce kundalini intensity.
Next I worked with a Taoist healer who helped me clear energy channels. Clearing energy blocks helped reduce the intensity of my kundalini symptoms. Through Taoism I learned about the concept of five elements. I explored this healing modality more and learned that certain types of shamanism and Buddhism use five elements healing.
The five elements are: fire, air, water, earth, and spaciousness. It is believed that these five energies exist in all energy bodies. They need to be in balance for optimal well-being. During kundalini, the fire element is amplified. Many people try to shut the fire off by overeating, grounding, drinking alcohol, etc. Most people intuitively know that the energy of fire has increased, and to find comfort they need to counterbalance it. Earth and water can put out fire. And when your fire element is high, balancing it with earth and water is an effective way to balance energy centers.
As I worked with the five elements, I found relief from my kundalini overload. I focused mainly on Earth and water, the two elements that have a downward flow. There is so much upward movement during kundalini (as energy moves up the spine) that the system can get overloaded.
I have found that the most effective way to balance the five elements is through sound, with a very particular instrument – the tuning fork. Today, I use tuning forks to aid and assist others in five elements healing. They are the only sound healing tools that did not overload my system with energy; rather, they seemed to have the effect of balancing energy centers and clearing blocks. I have found that balancing energy centers and clearing blocks are of the utmost importance during intense kundalini awakening.
In sum, when asked about kundalini and sound healing, I recommend it.
