The lightworkers’ world, and of spirituals in general, is full of contradictory opinions about when to start working on the root chakra (chakra 1, C1). How much effort should be invested in working on it compared with elevating the other chakras, what the expected results could be, and so on are questions with varying answers. Below I give you my findings after more than 15 years of work on my root chakra. I’ve also observed higher initiates that worked a lot on their C1, and learned what different yoga schools and Tao schools have to say about it. Ultimately, however, it’s from my experience and not from theory what I share with you below.
As I explained extensively in another paper of mine, the C1 is our point of contact with Earth energy. This is an energetic portal through which we receive Mother Earth’s energy that keeps us alive, a root energy that yoga calls “kundalini”, that aims to climb up our spine through all chakras and increase vibration along the way, and unite with cosmic energy in our C7 (crown chakra). Because of lower beliefs that people have, the chakras are partially clogged and the kundalini can’t ascend, and hence the low vibration world we are in.
Personally I advise beginners in spirituality NOT to touch the C1 (root chakra, muladhara in sanskrit) from the start, unless they want to risk serious issues. Fortunately the root chakra is the most closed of all chakras at the normal 3D vibration of the majority of embodied souls. It’s open just around 5%, so to open up to 100% is very difficult. Actually it cannot be open 100% for such low body vibrations as the usual 3D person is.
It’s true that in one in a billion cases there are documented spontaneous inner combustions when a non-spiritual person just bursts into flames and is consumed in minutes because of “accidental” kundalini surge up the spine. But the probability for such a misfortune increases a lot by many orders of magnitude if one plays the “wizard’s apprentice” and rasps it using all sorts of procedures for opening found in books or the internet.
Just work on the higher chakras and see how it goes in time.
How do you know if your C1 is really open – at least say 30%-50%, which is a lot? Well, there are several signs like jolts of energy through the spine, the body starts to feel differently (not so rigid anymore, like a bendable plastic no matter your age), the activation of lower “siddhis” (Sanskrit for abilities) which corresponds to chakras C1-C3. These siddhis include seeing a wider range of frequencies through the eyes (seeing energies and entities), feeling energy movements of Mother Earth (since you opened the link to Her now), forecasting major Earth events not known by normal people, moving energy through your body just by intent. Also talking easily to animals and plants, influencing body organ function, etc. At least 4-5 of these must be activated currently to draw the conclusion that the C1 has been activated.
These siddhis are latent/dormant abilities that thousands of years in the past the ancient druids/shamans for instance were working on lifetime after lifetime to activate. Hence they master the nature and spiritual world in service of the tribes they lead. They became very powerful when activating these abilities and that’s why for instance Julius Cesar gave the order to kill them when he invaded Britain in 1st century BC. The intent was for the the tribes to lose their leadership and become vulnerable to his conquest.
Let me tell you that Buddha, Jesus, Yogananda, Vivekananda and other fully enlightened souls didn’t have their C1 fully open, it was open between 30% and max 50%. Actually they didn’t need it more open in their lives; one has to have a very specific target in his practice to make it worth opening more.
If your aim is opening more of your C1, then cleanse yourself of lower beliefs and open more than 30% of your other higher chakras. Then you can work safely to open more of your C1, and ensure a higher flow of Earth energy in your body.
Reaching a 90-100% opening of C1 chakra is only for those that cleansed themselves of lower emotions, their subconscious, and worked many years to clean their body and reconnect with Creation (nature, energies, planet, cosmos etc). It is for those who aim to reach physical ascension in this life or the next one.
For instance, very advanced monks in the Tibetan tradition of Dzogchen (Great Perfecton) spiritual tradition, which is the highest path of the “nine vehicles to liberation” in Tibetan spiritual schools, work to attain the Rainbow Body in a lifetime. They transform their body into Light and so ascend to higher dimensions; therefore their body upon ascension literally disappears from the eyes of the witnesses. In the last 30 years about 5 reached this level …
They all reached a C1 opening of at least 90% to reach this state of Rainbow Body, but they worked for 40-50 years intensively for this goal by using these procedures.
