It is so important to stay grounded during a spiritual awakening. Opening up to receive higher energies is a blessing; integrating them into daily life can be a challenge.
In the beginning of my spiritual awakening, I went through a long period of emotional release. One after one, old feelings came up and many of them were heavy and negatively charged. Anything that was not a match to the new, higher vibration I was beginning to embody had to be purged.
At first I resisted. I tried to become more positive and to shift my mood. Nothing worked. I had to accept that these feelings were arising for a reason – to be released – and I chose to honor them. I discovered that I could be at peace with not feeling at peace.
With this change in perspective I began to move through the old energies. I sat with them and slowly but surely they released from my consciousness.
I wanted to find a way to speed up the process and to make it more bearable. I didn’t want to get lost in the negative emotions that were coming up.
Sound became an important ally for me during this time. I discovered that chanting HU (pronounced hue) soothed my nervous system, transmuted negative emotions, and helped me to feel ok with not being at peace.
Sufis, Eckankar, and some yogic traditions have chanted HU to achieve a state of transcendence. You can chant it alone, or you could tune in to a video like the one below to harmonize your HU with the voices of others.
Music has the power to shift our mood, to calm and soothe and uplift us. This is so important during a spiritual awakening. Sonicaid is a music label that became a favorite of mine during the emotional release process. Especially the album Music to Inspire Positive Thinking, which kept me from getting swallowed up in the heavy emotions I was releasing. Today this album is available to stream for free with Amazon Prime. You can also check it out on Youtube:
